Students were led in workshops about who Ross Gay is, read some of his poetry and created their own black out poetry and art based around Hurricane Helene and finding joy in difficult times.
In preparation for Ross Gay's visit students from: Freeman, Lowdermilk, McCormick, Norris, Kerber, Talarico, Ayscue, Mericle, Byron, Coleman, Swedlund, Greener, Robinson participated in blackout poetry, collages, and watercolor poems.
Students from National English Honor Society wrapped books & wrote descriptions for their service project.
Ms. Swedlund's English IV students participated in a research project in which they could ONLY use books.
Honor US History students from Ms. Rogers class learned about decoding the news. They were given a headline and the tools to decide whether or not their story was true.
Chai/Tea is the clear winner (66) Coffee (26), Hot Chocolate (30), Mystery liquid had a good turnout (23), Matcha (9), & Non-energy drink (15).
