We work hard to keep the Media Center a safe, welcoming learning space where students can create, work, research, study, explore, and relax. In addition to collaborating with teachers, we provide support as needed to individual students.
We continued to provide training and guidance to student teachers regarding how technology is impacting education.
We shared experiences, tools, and advice with new teachers to help them develop strategies and lessons using technology and media. We also shared best practices and practical insight in the use of technology in the classroom.
AHS and SILSA are important meeting places for the community. This year we hosted author Scott Reintgen speaking to students about writing, Real Money Experience from the State Employees Credit Union with the Economic and Personal Finance classes, District Attorney Amy Ray speaking to the AP Government class, and multiple other speakers and events. We provided space for student clubs, tutoring, art exhibits, and many different meetings. All of these activities require a level of support to meet a variety of needs. From answering questions about our schools to providing instructional and technical support, Media Specialists and the Digital Lead Teacher are the resource for meeting these needs.
At parent orientations we communicated the state of technology in education and on our campuses. We provide parents and community stakeholders with information regarding the use of technology on our campus and offer suggestions as to monitoring the use of technology at home.
Media Specialists and the Digital Lead Teacher help parents and community members make informed decisions regarding technology and their children. We work with parents and community members to help bring understanding to the changes technology is making in our culture.
