Shortcuts to HW Calendar Notes & Vocab Review Resources

Course Information:

Textbook: Biology Miller & Levine

This is a year-long course that meets for a double period on one of the letter days (A, B, C, or D) to allow for lab time (see lab requirement information below). In June, students will take the Living Environment Regents Exam.

Attendance:

You are expected to be in class and on time every day. If you have been LEGALLY absent, you must make up missed work as soon as possible after returning to school. If you are late to class, you must have a pass.

Lab Requirement:

New York State requires every student to successfully complete at least 1200 minutes of lab time in order to take the Living Environment Regents Exam. Students failing to meet this minimum requirement will not be allowed to take the exam and will receive a zero as 20% of their final averages. Summer school is not an option for students who do not take the exam.

Materials Required:

  • Chromebook (school issued)

  • A 3-ring binder (1" is fine) or a pocket folder if you prefer

  • A pen or pencil. Make sure that you have one every day…I do not provide them.

NO FOOD IN THE CLASSROOM. WATER IS OK, BUT NOT DURING LABS.

PHONES & OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES are not to be used during class time unless specifically directed to do so by the teacher.

Grades & Grading:

Grades on assessments make up the majority of a student’s course average.

The homework calendar is distributed in class, posted in the classroom, and online. The homework consists of nightly review of notes, studying vocabulary, studying for tests, and completion of any unfinished assignments.

Retest opportunities will be offered on tests and major quizzes. It is up to students to decide whether to take advantage of the retest opportunities.

Final Exam- The Living Environment Regents Exam administered in June is the final exam for this course. If a student does not have the required 1200 minutes of lab time, the student is will not be allowed to take the exam.

Extra Help/Make-ups: One day each week in Room 2329. Please arrive by 2:20. Because of meetings and other obligations, the extra help day will not always be the same each week.
