Drag racer - must start via light sensor.
Event Rules: All participants line up with approximately 1” of their robots extending over the starting line. [Note: If your light sensor is not over the line when your robot starts your program needs to account for passing over the starting line.]
- The robot should not exceed 50 cm in length and 30 cm in width.
- Once a robot starts the course, it must remain autonomous or be disqualified.
- A robot that wanders off the racecourse will be disqualified.
- A robot must be programmed to wait 5 seconds after the “RUN” button is pressed before moving down the course.
- Any robot not waiting the five seconds will be given a “false start”. Each robot is granted one “false start” per round. If the robot false starts twice it is disqualified.
- If the robot must be reprogrammed for any reason it is disqualified.
- A robot is not allowed to increase its length during the race.
- Robots must stop after they cross the finish line. Robots who do not stop within 3 feet after the finish line, forfeit the heat. A robot can perform an action to celebrate its finish (play a song, turn on a light, reverse, do a little dance...”). The Finish Line will be marked with RED tape. You are encouraged to use a color sensor, or other method to identify the finish line.
- The course will be a straight line, with the distance between the start line and the finish line being 15 meters apart (approximately half of a basketball court).
- Only robots with battery powered motors will be permitted to compete.
The races will follow a round robin style, where the racers will be allowed time to make adjustments between runs.
