Two major works of Chinese literature studied in this class are My Father’s Back, by the author Zhu Zhi-qing, and Memories of Peking, by the author Lin Hai-yin. A work in translation studied in the class is Anne of Green Gables, by the author Lucy M. Montgomery.

Through the study of these texts, students will enrich their vocabularies and their understanding of grammatical structure, as well as develop skills in literary analysis.

The major assignments in the course are based on literary analysis, essay writing and oral presentations.
