Each day, buses contracted by ACS transport ACS Athens students throughout greater Athens. Bus monitors are present on each bus with the responsibility of ensuring safety and order. Student bus monitors may assist in maintaining order on the buses. The school bus is an extension of the school and therefore all expectations and consequences apply.
All Academy students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately while on the school bus. They are expected to act as positive role models for the younger children on the bus. Infractions of the bus regulations and/or the student Code of Conduct may result in the loss of bus service.
Questions about transportation services should be directed to the Transportation Office at: +30 210 6070-239.
Students must follow the directions of the bus monitors, adults, and drivers at all times.
No eating, drinking or smoking is allowed.
Students must be seated in their assigned seats and should be relatively quiet at all times.
Respectful language must be used at all times.
Students must keep hands, head, and arms inside the bus at all times.
No weapons / toy weapons or incendiary devices are allowed at any time. Students who cannot follow these rules will be referred to the Transportation Officer and appropriate administrator. Serious or repeated violations of bus rules will result in permanent removal from the bus.
In addition, students and parents need to note the following bus procedures:
If a student wishes to take a bus other than the one normally assigned or to get off at a stop other than the one normally assigned, a parental request must be submitted to the transportation office one day before the requested change and presented to the monitor before boarding. Permission to ride a different bus will be granted only if space is available.
Change of address resulting in a change of route or bus stop should be presented to the transportation office in writing two days prior to the change.
The ACS Athens Code of Conduct and consequences also apply while students are using the bus services.
For more detailed information regarding the ACS Athens bus services, please refer to the bus contract for your child.
ACS Athens provides a bus service for students who stay after academic school hours in order to participate in athletics, after school activities, or school-sanctioned programs. The buses go to designated areas (not a door-to-door service) and depart from school daily at 5:45 pm. This service runs without the presence of a bus monitor, which means there is no adult supervision of the students riding the bus, so students must be on their best behaviour in order to continue this privilege.
The Late Bus Service is NOT available during exams (two weeks in January- dates are finalized in December).
The Late Bus Service is available to ACS Athens students only and upon submission of the Late Bus Waiver Form (can be found at the Athletics & Transportation Offices).
*Students are individually responsible for getting off at the right bus stop.
The cafeteria is equipped to provide daily lunches and to serve food for various events and activities during the year. Proper behavior in the cafeteria means exhibiting good restaurant dining manners. Students are to proceed in single file through the serving line. Food is not allowed on the back field, in the Learning Commons or in the gymnasium.
After eating, all students are expected to appropriately recycle and dispose of their own trash and to return their trays. Students who leave trash behind them can expect to spend some time performing cafeteria clean-up duty. In order to maintain hygiene, gym bags and backpacks should not be placed on the dining tables. Students should maintain a conversational tone while in the cafeteria.
Academy students may use the amphitheater, front-courts and back-field areas for recreation and relaxation when classes are not in session, and should avoid blocking the main entrance to the administration building. Students are allowed to spend time in the 5th grade area during passing time but sports may only be played in the back field and front courts of the academy.
*Students are not permitted to order food from outside vendors.
