The vocal academy performs in regular concerts, special events in school and the community. Members are trained in vocal technique, musicianship and sight singing. Students will experience quality literature through its practice and performance. Students will acquire the skills needed to perform this literature and have the opportunity to perfect it for the enjoyment of many different audiences. The intent of this program is to increase the students' understanding and appreciation of vocal literature, develop musicianship, gain control of their vocal instrument, and develop self-discipline along with a sense of achievement and pride in both the ensemble and their own contribution to it. It is the goal that each student will become an independent musician for life.
The Vocal Academy is designed to:
-To create interest and participation in vocal music
-To develop the individual voice and understand its relationship to the vocal arts
-To challenge students to be better musicians and to develop musical independence.
-To expose students to many styles of music at different levels of difficulty
-To instill the values of effort, commitment, self-discipline, self-respect, respect for others, dedication, and responsibility in the students.
