A 'smart house' integrates sensors, microcontrollers, and actuators to automate everyday tasks, improve energy efficiency, and enhance security. Rather than relying purely on manual switches, a smart system makes decisions based on environmental data. In addition, a smart house permits environmental and security functions to be viewed and controlled remotely, as an example of the 'Internet of Things'/
The Smart Homes project has participants create a functional model of a ‘smart house’, that incorporates automated systems based around the Microbit microcontroller and assorted sensors, lights, motors, and pumps.
