Trimester 3 Creativity Station(Morning): Electronics, AI, and the Internet of Things
This Creativity Station will introduce students to skills and concepts in Electronics, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet of Things through a series of hands-on projects. Students will begin by learning the use of electronics tools and test equipment to build and troubleshoot simple electronics circuits. We will learn the fundamentals of electronics circuitry and create various artistic displays and game devices involving lights and sounds. Students will assemble a Bluetooth speaker that can play music from their smartphones. They will construct a simple robot controlled by discrete components such as photocells and transistors. They will investigate applications of Artificial Intelligence using Google Teachable Machine, Google AI Experiments, and use Microsoft Cognitive Services to create chatbots and voice-controlled robots. Finally, they will conduct experiments of their choosing with the Internet of Things, communicating data from sensors to the Internet.
Tentative Schedule:
Week 1: Using electronics tools- wire types, wire strippers, flush trim pliers, screwdrivers, soldering iron, multimeters. Using heat-shrink. Olympic rings soldering exercise. Using solderless breadboards. Terminal strips.
