Tip#26 Copy Folder for Google Drive (5-16-2018)
Google Drive is an essential cloud based storage system that works seamlessly with Google Docs and other Google Apps for Education. Understandably, keeping your Google Drive organized is an important consequence of using those apps. In order to help with organization, Copy Folder for Google Drive is a Google script that allows for easy copying of folders of any size in your Google Drive. There's even a log that will give your the copying results in real time.

YouTube is a great consumption tool for watching videos on almost any topic. Did you know that you can create playlists, edit video, add watermarks and free audio tracks? Canva is a tool that allows you to create beautiful designs and graphics within seconds! You can edit photos, add text, shapes, stickers and borders to create professional looking graphics. Tweak a template in Canva, or create your own.You can create on the web, with the iOS app, or Chromebook app.

Like a previous entry in our Tech Tips, this Open Culture site presents thousands of different links to various videos, eBooks, lectures, and courses that are free to use. This site does a great job of curating resources by subject, so you can find all of what you need in one handy spot.

Tip#22 Explore Function in Google (4-18-2018)
Google has a great function baked into some of its apps. Google Explore is built into Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets. Explore is an almost unnoticeable button in the bottom right hand corner of these apps. In Docs it helps you look up items; in Slides it can really help you transform the look and function of your slides; in Sheets functionality, graphics, and data takes a whole new shape.
Tip#21 OER Commons (4-11-2018)
Looking for resources? OER Commons is for you! This site is a collection of user generated and collected resources for teachers and students. There are tens of thousands of different links, documents, and collections to research and download. Because it is open source, the materials can be shared, used, and modified by all.
Tip#20 Remote for Slides (3-28-2018)
Special thanks to Cari Conaway for sharing this cool extension with me! Remote for Slides is very easy to use. To get started, install the Chrome extension on Chrome Web Store, open Google Slides in presentation mode, a six-digits ID number will show up. Enter the ID number on s.limhenry.xyz, and you are set. Tip#19 Zoom (3-21-2018)
This tip is awesome and we just found out about this one. Zoom.US is a super powerful screen sharing application (FREE). It offers lots of functionality including trading screens, giving others control of your mouse, marking up each other's screens, and even recording the presentation. This app is the ultimate in live collaborating from a distance. There is a smart phone app too for iOS and Android.
ZTLearn is a the Ultimate Website Hoarder. This website is an amazing resource for anyone who wishes to search for relevant research into . . .pretty much anything. Lightshot is a quick and easy way to take a screenshot. You can make small edits to the image, upload it online, share it on social media, and search for similar images on Google. It can be used on Mac or PC and is also available in the Chrome store.
Images speak volumes and brings a presentation or website to life. However, getting images from the Internet is just too easy. Many do not take the time to check if the image can be used 'legally'. Google Images has a great baked in tool to help make sure you are choosing proper 'FairUse' images. Another great tool, in which all images are marked for reuse 'legally'. Flipgrid is a free video discussion platform. Teachers create a grid, and then they post a topic for discussion and students respond with short, 90 second videos. Students do not need a Flipgrid account to respond, and they can access it on Macs, PCs, Chromebooks, and mobile devices. It's easy to get a conversation started!
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology presents Open Course Ware. OCW is a great resource that gives teachers and students full access to actual courses taught by the world-renowned instructors at MIT. The courses are taught open license, so you can use all resources from the course in your own classroom. The site also includes a portal for K-12 students to help them in various subjects. The site provides enrichment for all!
This tip is simple, but really effective. Google Translate might seem like a tool only used for one thing...translating on language to another, but it can actually be twisted into a powerful resource for both students and teachers. Instead of worrying about translating text from one language to another, use Google Translate to listen to a chunk of text from any source. There is also a smart phone app of this too!

The Mobile Version of Google Translate
Livebinders is a great way to collect all of your saved bookmarks and give them a visual representation for you and your students. Because Livebinders allows you to create a tree of websites, you can arrange many sites into one convenient location. Additionally, you can search for Livebinders other teachers have created to add even more resources to your teaching!
AnswerGarden is a web-based tool that allows you to gather feedback from a group. One of the best features of AnswerGarden is that there is no registration required, and the students do not need to create an account. Once a question is posed, the group can respond and a word cloud is generated. Teachers/facilitators can use it for quick formative assessments, and students can collaborate and practice critical thinking skills as they analyze the answers generated.
Contact Lists in Google's Gmail is a game changer. Nearly every district uses G-Suite for EDU's Gmail for educators. Sometimes districts create distribution lists for educators, but they are not always specific enough for certain needs. Creating your OWN lists are easy and highly effective. Your Contact Lists work across Google's other products and can even be shared. No more clicking 'Reply to All' and highjacking other conversations. Sending emails to group is a breeze with Google Contacts.
Kahoot is a fun way to increase student learning and collect data to inform instructional decisions that teachers make every day in their classroom. The tool allows teachers to create questions in multiple choice format. Then, teachers create a game to test their knowledge. The games are played with any device the student has and data can be downloaded to figure out how each of the students did. The game element also adds excitement to the activity. Kahoot is great for a quick quiz or exit ticket to determine where students are in their learning.
Infohio is Ohio's digital library and information network. It's free and available to all PreK-12 students, their parents, and educators. Infohio pairs well with Google as you can share materials in Google Classroom.

Kami is an extension that you can add to your Chrome browser that will allow you to read or annotate articles. It is great to highlight too. The free version is all you need. Once you adjust your PDF, you can export it with the newly 'Marked Up' version. You can also export directly to your Google Drive for ease of use and/or sharing.
Rewordify is a free text tool that allows users to change the language of written text into a more palatable language. Rewordify not only works on pasted in text but whole websites. As a teacher, you can also create various activities to help your students better understand what they are reading.

Many of us juggle different tasks, roles and responsibilities throughout the day. Are you someone who typically has lots of tabs open in your browser? Momentum is a Chrome Extension to help manage your day. The extension works with Google's Chrome and Apple's Safari. Instead of getting the default New tab page, you'll get a customized dashboard.

We all use YouTube, but do we all utilize the playlist creation feature in YouTube? Educators can find videos and/or create videos housed on YouTube that are centered around a topic or theme. With this tip, you will be able to create a playlist and then share it with others via: Link or Email. You can also 'embed it' on your website, Google Site, or Wiki. You'll love the ability to collect and share important videos within the 'top-dog' of all video sites...Google's own YouTube.
