Routines & Schedule

Student Schedule:

CMS follows a 10-period schedule each day. The following will be the schedule for the 2020-2021 school year.

7:40 - 7:45: Homeroom

7:45-9:12: Block 1/2 (Core subject)

9:15-11:00 : Block 3/4(Core subject)

11:00 - 11:15: Success period

11:17 - 11:57: Band/Choir or Elective

11:59 - 12:39: Lunch/Recess/Study Hall

12:41 - 1:21: Specials Class (Art, 5th grade focus, tech, or PE)

1:23- 2:40: Block 9/10 (Core Subject)

2:45: Release

Language arts, mathematics, science, & social studies are the four core classes in fifth grade.
Language arts and mathematics are BLOCKED classes in 5th grade, meaning that they last for two periods instead of one.
Science and social studies last for ONE period each, but they share a block.

Routines in Language Arts Class

Students will complete a bell work prompt to begin class each day.
Students will always be expected to have a silent reading book with them in class.

*They may bring books from home*

Students will participate in "Workshop Time" where they will have multiple projects, and will make progress on them each day.
Students will be expected to develop and improve their time management skills through workshop time.

Routines for Language Arts at Home
