Course Guide Stage 5Â
Elective subjects at ACC are designed to be future-focused, engaging for students, and grounded in a strong practical framework. We offer a wide range of options to support our vision of helping each student succeed in pursuing God's purpose for their life.
Before entering Year 9 and 10 students choose one subject from Line A and one from Line B, with each course running for 12 months. Over two years in Stage 5, students complete four different courses.
Class sizes are limited, so selections are based on availability and the order in which they are submitted. If a student doesn’t get their first choice, they’ll need to select another subject from the same line. If this happens in Year 9, they’ll have another chance in Year 10 to choose that elective.
Students can change their electives until the end of Week 5, Term 1. After this, they’ll need to meet with the Academic Office (B1.3) to request a change, which will depend on class size, dynamics, and wellbeing needs. Changes after Week 5 are not guaranteed.
You will start by selecting subjects in order of preference. (This helps us organise the subjects into lines.) Once finalised, the subject lines will be posted here.
Students will choose their subjects via the OC Subject Selection form. If a subject clash occurs (same line), some subjects are offered both face-to-face and online (if they are offered via DE, you may study up to 2 subjects online). Please discuss this option with us, as it requires strong self-motivation. Your selections may differ from your preferences.
ACC Important Contacts for Subject Selection
Head of Academics: Miss Lauren Kenny
Head of Curriculum (Secondary): Mrs Sharon Le Grange
Careers and External Studies Coordinator (TAFE VET): Mr Hezekiah Rose

The electives for Distance Education are optional and are accessed through Canvas Catalogue unless you would like to study Performance Studies (Music).Â
The information in the guide will help students to decide which subjects they would like to complete. Each unit is expected to take about one term.Â
Students are encouraged to broaden their studies through the electives program. They may complete units from different subjects or work through all the units in one subject. At the end of each unit you will receive a Certificate of Completion.
If you are interested in studying Music for Stage 6 then it is highly recommended that you complete the full elective course in Performance Studies. This will be a normal Canvas course including assessment tasks.Â
Additional Information:
Some electives may have additional resource costs not covered by College fees. Refer to Required resources on the subject pages in the Course Guide.
Elective courses are more self-directed than core subjects, requiring more self-motivation.
There are no limits on the number of students per elective, so students are guaranteed to get into their chosen subject/s.

Stage 5 Elective Subjects (2025)
Elective subjects at ACC are designed to be future-focused, engaging, and practical, with a wide variety of options. This reflects our vision to "help each student succeed in whatever God wants them to do."
Subject Selection Guidelines:
Year 9 and 10 students must select one elective from Line A and one from Line B. Each course runs for 12 months, allowing students to complete four different electives over two years.
Class sizes are limited, and students are assigned electives based on their choices and the order of submission. If a chosen subject is full, students will need to select another subject from the same line. Students who miss out in Year 9 will have another opportunity to choose that subject in Year 10.
Year 9 and 10 Subject Lines:
Year 9 lines will be decided after 28th August.
Year 10 lines will follow the same structure as the 2024 Year 9 lines.
Making Changes:
Students can change their elective subjects until the end of Week 5, Term 1. After this, changes require an appointment with the Head of Secondary School and will be considered based on class sizes, dynamics, and wellbeing needs.
Changes after Week 5 are not guaranteed and will only be allowed if space is available.
The College continues to develop new elective subjects for 2026.
Distance Education
Stage 5 Elective Subjects (2025)
Stage 5 students may study as many units as they like.
The units are self-paced but are designed to take about one term.Â
Late Enrolments:
As the electives are self-paced they can be started at any time during the year.
Performance Studies (Music) is a year-long elective, which makes it difficult for me to enrol in this subject at midyear. *Special considerations can be made*
The College continues to develop new elective subjects for 2026.
