Ans. This workshop requires lots of instruments and chemicals. Therefore, it is not possible for us to conduct it outside IISER Pune.
Ans. Please write to molbio@acads.iiserpune.ac.in to explore the dates. However, please note that we will handle 10 students at a time. So if the number of students is more, then we can accommodate them in multiples of 10 over multiple workshops. If the number of students is less, you should encourage them to participate individually.
Ans. Sorry, no. Only the participants can be allowed inside the laboratory. We have no provision for waiting space for the parents either.
Ans. For applying under Category 1, you need to be currently enrolled as a student in a school / junior college in class IX-XII or equivalent. For Category 2, you need to finished Class XII (or equivalent) in any discipline.
Ans. No. The number of participants in a given version of the course shall not be more than 10. Within that, IISER Pune shall maintain a balance between the number of seats in each category (see here for description). However, within a category, applicants will be invited to register for the course on a first-come first-served basis. Registered candidates will have to pay the fees within a stipulated duration, failing which the offer shall stand withdrawn. Therefore, candidates are advised to apply early to maximize their chances of getting called for the course. Fees, once paid, cannot be refunded under any circumstance. Therefore, the candidates are advised to ensure their availability on the date before they pay the fees.
Ans. Sorry, not possible.
Ans. No, it is not a transferable offer. Therefore, once you have paid the registration fees, nobody can substitute you under any circumstances.
Ans. Sorry, no on both counts.
Ans. The registration fees include the following:
All chemicals and consumables as required for carrying out the experiments.
Access to course materials.
Note that we will supply sufficient chemicals for all students to perform the experiments on their own once. However, these chemicals are very expensive. Therefore, if the participants end up wasting all or part of the chemicals, it will not be possible for us to resupply them.
Ans. Sorry, no. The participants will need to make their own arrangements towards food, travel and accommodation.
Ans. The medium of instruction would be English.
Ans. This workshop is aimed at people who have little or no exposure to biology. Therefore, we do not advocate these workshops for UG/PG students who need to get a lot more in depth /technical exposure to these techniques. Such students should apply for our "Molecular Biology for the Young Scientists" series of workshops.
Ans. Please drop an email to molbio@acads.iiserpune.ac.in
