Prof. Akhil Ranjan

Akhil Ranjan is working as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at IISER Berhampur. He has previously held the position of a professor of mathematics at IIT Bombay and retired from there in 20XX. He works in the area of Differential Geometry.

Dr. Shane D'Mello

Shane D'Mello is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at IISER Mohali. His research expertise lies in the area of topology of real algebraic varieties, in particular real algebraic knots.

Abstract of the talk:

We will discuss the different types of questions and methods used in understanding the restrictions placed on knots if their parametrizations are rational or polynomial of a fixed degree.
