Students who wish to purse college credit while enrolled at Rayne High School have options of doing so through CLEP Testing and/or Dual Enrollment.

CLEP

Why take a CLEP Exam?

●       Passing the CLEP exam will give students a chance to earn college course credit before ever stepping a foot onto a college campus.  Passing will allow a student to save money on tuition and books which will in turn allow their TOPS and other scholarships to cover more courses.

●       Every student that passes a CLEP exam will earn the school 50 points on the strength of diploma index.  This will help to increase our overall School Performance Score - all at no cost to the district, the school, or the student. You could be part of the senior class that finally makes RHS an “A” school!

●       You have a chance to earn a voucher to take exams for FREE!!! – See details below on Modern States.

●       CLEP Testing will be scheduled on-site at Rayne High following completion of the Modern States course work and vouchers have been obtained. 

●       There is no penalty if you do not pass the exam.

 

How do I earn a free voucher?

●       Create an account with www.modernstates.org.  Enroll in “courses” (which are really abbreviated review sessions).  Successful completion of their courses awards you a FREE VOUCHER to take that course CLEP Exam.

●       Though they are called “courses” within Modern States, the provided material takes approximately 24-32 hours total to complete if you are reviewing material you have already been taught before.

●       The Modern States course reviews are taught by Ivy League college professors and is recommended by the College Board (creators of the CLEP test) and by the LDOE as valuable resources to use for CLEP prep. 

●       Modern States has an app and all of this can be done from your phone.

●   You literally have nothing to lose.  Students will be completing much of the Modern States Course as part of the following RHS Courses: Advanced Math, Biology II, English IV, Psychology, and Spanish II with plans of expanding into more courses.  You will work throughout the year as your teachers assist you with instruction to earn these free vouchers. 

 

 

Are there other Courses in Modern States I can take on my own time?

·         Yes!  They offer over 30 courses FREE that you can take in your own time to earn a voucher and schedule your own exam at a private testing center.

·         Students can enroll in additional Moderns States “courses” on their own to earn additional vouchers they are interested in.
