Dear Parent/Guardian,
Statewide End-of-Course (EOC) assessments are administered to students enrolled in the following courses:
● Algebra 1 (Middle and High School)
● Geometry (Middle and High School)
● Biology 1 (Middle/High School)
● Civics (Middle/Junior only)
● U.S. History (High School) - If a student successfully passes the Civics End-of-Course (EOC) exam in 7th Grade, they are exempt from retaking the test.
Here's why:
Middle School Requirement: The Civics End-of-Course (EOC) is a middle school assessment that is specifically aligned with the required civics course in middle grades, typically in the seventh grade.
Promotion Requirement: A passing score on the Civics End-of-Course (EOC) exam is a prerequisite for the promotion of students from middle school to high school (ninth grade).
No Retake in Junior Year:
Since the assessment directly determines middle school promotion, there’s no need to retake it in junior year or any subsequent year of high school. Passing the test is mandatory for high school graduation. l
