MCHS HAS A RECORD-BREAKING NUMBER OF STUDENTS PASS THE AP EXAM!
MCHS is both honored and excited to present this year's list of AP score recipients! These students received a 3 or better on the AP exam, thus receiving college credit for their AP courses taken during the 22-23 academic year. MCHS saw a TREMENDOUS increase in the number of students passing the AP exam and look forward to the continued growth of our students after this year! Our teachers also worked hard to prepare our students and we couldn't be prouder. Keep up the great work, falcons!
MCHS Receives College Board Recognition for the AP School Honor Roll!
Congratulations to Maumelle Charter High School which was named to the 2023 AP School Honor Roll! The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools who AP program are delivering results and broadening access for students.
Schools can earn the Honor Roll recognition annually based on their ability to increase their school’s college-going culture, to provide opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness. The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
Maumelle Charter High School had 100% of 2023 graduates who took at least one AP exam during high school, 31% of 2023 graduates scoring a three or higher on at least one AP exam, and 9% of 2023 graduates who took five or more AP exams!
Principal Johnson commended the hard work of MCHS by stating “I couldn’t be prouder of our students, teachers, and staff for placing high expectations on themselves and others and encouraging each other to achieve through rigorous, AP Courses. Our teachers worked hard last year to ensure AP courses aligned with the exam and the achievement of our students is a direct reflection of the growth we have seen as a college preparatory school. Keep Soaring, Falcons!”
College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both—while still in high school. Through AP courses in 38 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue—skills that prepare them for college and beyond. Taking AP courses demonstrates to college admissions officers that students have sought the most challenging curriculum available to them, and research indicates that students who score a 3 or higher on an AP Exam typically experience greater academic success in college and are more likely to earn a college degree than non-AP students.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is an awesome program, and it is free. Children from ages 0 to 5 will receive one age appropriate book per month until they reach the age of 6. If you have a child 0 to 5 please take advantage of this program. If you have family members or friends with children 0 to 5 please let them know and encourage them to join.
MCHS Receives an "A" Rating!
The Arkansas Department of Education released their school report card ratings and MCHS has received the highest marks with an "A"! MCHS is one of only 76 schools out of 1,020 to receive the top honor. Students and teachers plan to celebrate next Friday with an ice cream social and outdoor activities during 7th period. We are so grateful to our many students, teachers, and parents for working hard to grow and achieve such high scores! Keep up the great work, Falcons!
“I am extremely proud of the students, faculty and staff of MCHS! Due to your hard work and dedication you increased your previous letter grade from a B to an A. The opening of the new school last year brought many challenges. You met those challenges head on and the A letter grade sums up how great the first year was. Keep up the great work and congratulations FALCONS!” – Rob McGill, Chief Executive Officer

"I chose to become an educator because all of my role models and mentors in my life were teachers, and they critically impacted my life for the better. After several long nights of self reflection, I realized that what I wanted to do the most was to alter a student's trajectory the same way they did for me. I'm excited to meet my students and cultivate their experiences as we approach the vast world of Chemistry together. Besides that, I am excited for sports and attending the games"
WELCOME, MR. LUCH

Teacher Spotlight
MCHS would like to spotlight Mr. Ryan Shanner! This is Mr. Shanner's 6th year here at MCHS as a Digital Learning Facilitator. He has also served two years as an assistant for the Falcon baseball team.
"I decided to become an educator because I come from a family of educators and coaches with a call of working with kids of all ages, especially those who are underprivileged and in need. This led me to pursue a degree at UALR where I earned a bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Science with a minor in Secondary Ed. Upon graduation however, I began working in the private sector, but felt unfulfilled because my heart just wasn't in it, so I decided to pursue working in education. It's been one of the best decisions I've ever made. What I enjoy most about working at MCHS is working with our students, the comradery of the staff, and the pursuit of excellence that is part of the DNA here at MCHS."
We are thankful to have Mr. Shanner on our team!
