Boxborough FreeBee Network & Market

The FreeBee Network and Market was formed in the wake of the pandemic, and a large local apartment fire. These experiences emphasized the importance of a central, volunteer-driven team to connect neighbors to share access to food, resources, and services.

About FreeBee

We’re so proud of how our Market - and the Network that makes it happen - continues to evolve and grow over time. Certainly, we have been ‘nimble’, and are still adapting to what we learn that the community needs and wants us to become.

Overall - We're a Volunteer-powered Food Rescue.

But our primary goals are consistently to promote connections between neighbors, services, organizations, resources, and even local businesses.

We have started by sharing food to prevent waste, to fight food insecurity, and to promote local consumption - for all. As we grow, we have expanded into the sharing of plants, books, and also art/craft supplies.

Our hope is to fill a need while not ‘reinventing the wheel’, nor overlapping with existing organizations. Rather, we want to complement and amplify the impact of the many phenomenal groups who are already making our lives better - together.

Bee connected!

Community Sharing

You know those 'give a penny / take a penny' dishes at store checkout counters? This is the FreeBee Market philosophy.

Maybe one week you have too much of *something* at home that you can share (hens laying too many eggs? garden producing too many zucchinis? did some baking* but don't want to eat it all yourself?), and another time you may find that someone else's excess is a perfect fit for your own household's needs.

Come join us, visit neighbors, and share the community bounty!

*If you bring baked goods, please provide an ingredient list.
