On November 27th, one of the most coveted holidays arrives...Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a popular holiday in America mostly due to all of the food, but it is also a holiday that allows for quality time spent with family and friends gathered around the dinner table.
Thanksgiving looks different all around the world but is always celebrated with one similarity... food.
In every culture the food served on the Thanksgiving dinner table varies. In Hispanic households they often incorporate spices and many intricate flavors. Foods like pavochón (Puerto Rican-style turkey marinated in adobo, sazón, and other spices, often wrapped in bacon) and mofongo (A Puerto Rican dish made of mashed, fried green plantains, often stuffed with meat or seafood) decorate the table.
In Korean households foods such as galbi-jjim (Braised beef short ribs, often cooked in a savory sauce) and japchae (Stir-fried glass noodles with beef and a variety of vegetables) line the table with sides like Kimchi which can include cabbage, cucumber, or radish.
Of course, the traditional American household Thanksgiving dinner includes stuffing, cranberry sauce, cornbread, and, most of all, turkey!
Thanksgiving is truly one of the most anticipated holidays - have a great one!

Hurricanes, along with all other natural disasters ,can do great damage to the surrounding areas affected. Instances like Hurricane Katrina have shown us just how powerful these tropical storms can be.
The area most recently hit by a tropical storm of such force is Jamaica and other Islands surrounding the area such as the Bahamas and Cuba.
The storm first showed itself on radars as a tropical wave monitored on October 16, which then became small formation of thunderstorms near the coast of West Africa. The storm then gradually moved through the Atlantic and into the Caribbean Sea where it started to gather more strength when it was then marked as a tropical storm
On October 21st, Hurricane Melissa quickly became a category five hurricane and made landfall in Jamaica on October 28th, causing catastrophic destruction and ruin. Hurricane Melissa became the third most devastating Atlantic Hurricane since the 1935 Labor Day hurricane.
Hurricane Melissa is the strongest tropical cyclone worldwide in 2025, and it was the strongest hurricane to hit Jamaica since the 1988's Hurricane Gilbert.
It's imperative that we constantly keep a check on the weather and its formations so we can always be prepared for surprises like Melissa.
