Hi! My name is Kamalika, and I’m a freshman here at Southeast. I decided to join the journalism club because I love literature and enjoy reading. I also enjoy writing because it helps boost my writing and grammar skills. Other than journalism, I’m in FTA and FCA. I was in the Marching Band because I enjoy playing music and listening to songs. Hobbies that I enjoy are cooking, drawing and coloring landmarks, eating, and watching movies.

As Southeast Alamance High School grows, new teachers join the herd of Stallion faculty. Many teachers were hired this year including Mrs. Teri Rasa. Within the Social Studies Department, Mrs. Rasa teaches World History. It is clear that Mrs. Rasa loves working with the students at Southeast.
A strong knowledge in her subject area, Rasa reflects on the experience she brings to Southeast. "There are a few things I love about my job. One is being able to share my interest and passion about World History and helping students have a greater understanding of why the world is the way it is. Another is helping students have the "lightbulb" moments. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student who was struggling with a concept suddenly grasp it and make the connection. I love seeing students find pride in their accomplishments. Finally, I really value the opportunity to build relationships with young people, guiding them not just in history, but also in developing critical thinking, resilience and organization," Rasa said.
Mrs. Rasa credits the community and morale at Southeast for being a major reason for joining the staff. “Coming to Southeast was a great decision for me. I have found the students and staff incredibly welcoming. I’ve been really impressed by the dedication of the students to create inclusive communities, and the great morale among faculty. I feel genuinely supported by my department chair,” she said. (read more)

Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, also known as Bad Bunny, is a Puerto Rican singer and rapper who is a 3-time Grammy winner. Dubbed the “King of Latin Trap”, Bad Bunny is credited with helping Spanish-language rap music reach mainstream worldwide. He is also named the first Latin artist to win the Grammy for Best Musica Urbana Album, making his albums the first all-Spanish albums to top the Billboard 200 chart, and becoming the most-streamed artist on Spotify for three consecutive years.
Many are extremely happy with the news, saying things like “I think he gives a great representation of his country!” Or “He does an awesome job of blending in different genres like Latin, trap, and soul.”
Jennifer Lopez, who was also a halftime performer, has been asked about Bad Bunny’s upcoming performance since she is also of Puerto Rican descent. “I think it's wonderful people will get exposed to him who don’t know him. Just give it a chance! Music and art transcend languages, and he’s done that more than anybody.” She says on CBS's Sunday Mornings with Gayle King.
Jay-Z’s Roc Nation partners with the NFL to choose the performer on the halftime show, and this is what he says in a statement: “What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.” (read more)
