A school psychologist is a problem solver, a facilitator, a consultant, and a resource. We are trained in child development; learning; cognition; academic/behavioral/social-emotional intervention; prevention; program design, development, implementation, and evaluation; assessment; and consultation.
In ABSS, school psychologists collaborate with each other, with our colleagues in other departments, and with school staff, and families. We do this by integrating ourselves into the fabric of the district and our schools. We support each other and our ability to provide high quality services by holding structured monthly psychology meetings in large group and small group formats, regularly collaborating together, and regularly consulting current research to inform our practices.
