Core Curriculum

There are TWO main components to the School Counseling Core Curriculum here at Highland:

  • Self-regulation

  • Growth Mindset

These are taught through classroom lessons using:

      • Feelings Wheel & Validation

      • Coping skills

      • Problem solving

And have the most impact when they are reinforced at home!

PBIS core strategies schoolwide:

When students' feelings are big, it greatly affects their ability to access their "learning brain". We know how our home life affects our day as adults, it's even more so for our students. These strategies are intended to be a tool to assist teachers in managing feelings. To make classroom success a bit easier for both!
