I have over 28 years of experience in education, and I'm beginning my 12th year as the principal of B. Everett Jordan Elementary School. I am very excited about beginning another year with the great students, staff, and families from the community. Prior to becoming an administrator, I taught special education at the elementary, middle, and high school level in both North and South Carolina. I am a proud graduate of Clemson University. While there, I spent four years working in the football office, and I am still a strong supporter of the Tigers. My husband, Matt, and I travel to all of the home football games and many away games, too. In the past few years, we have traveled much of the country to watch the Tigers play ball. You can bet that you'll see me dressed in orange each Friday to support my favorite team.
I love to travel and experience new people, places, and cultures. I've been blessed to be able to travel throughout the US and abroad. Last summer, I had the opportunity to travel to Scotland to attend the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews. I grew up playing golf with my parents, so this was the trip of a lifetime for me. While in Scotland, we also had the chance to visit Drummond Castle, the ancestral home of my husband's family. Next year, we hope to enjoy the 2024 US Open, which will be played at Pinehurst, right here in North Carolina.
Still, one of my favorite trips was to Greece, where we spent time in Athens, the capital, and Santorini, one of the many islands. We had the opportunity to see many of the ancient Greek ruins that I had read about in books when I was a student. You can look here to see some of the many pictures I took. As an educator, I have always been fascinated with Ancient Greece. In fact, some of the first organized schools can be attributed to the Ancient Athenians. In addition to seeing the beautiful sights, I had opportunities to meet some wonderful people, and I can't wait to go back.
