BUILDING AND INVESTING IN OUR FUTURE EDUCATORS
ABSS is excited to offer a Grow Our Own Program for high school students interested in pursuing a career in teaching. Interested students will apply to be part of the Teacher Scholars Program. Opportunities such as field experience and job shadowing will expose them to the responsibilities and requirements of teaching as a profession.
Highlights of the Program
Students remain at their home high school.
Applications are reviewed three times during the year.
Fall semester entry is January 1st - March 31st & April 15th - July 15th
Spring semester entry is August 1st -Nov 1st
Requirements of the program include field experience and community service/volunteer work.
Access to attend the Teacher Cadet State Conference, college field trips and other special events.
Student fees @ ACC for textbooks and required access codes are free as long as the unweighted gpa is 2.8 or higher.
Early registration and first priority for ACC classes taught face to face @ CTEC.
Students interested in completing an Associate in Arts Teacher Preparation degree from ACC and transferring to Elon University can join the Alamance Scholars cohort via ACC.

Support ABSS High School students who have a desire to become a K - 12 teacher and come back home to ABSS upon college graduation.
