At the core of RJ Grey is our emphasis on the the team model. Teaming allows us to take a large school with many students and create a set of smaller communities. These teams coordinate learning activities and team-based programs, and facilitate communication between teachers, families, and students. Through teaming, flexible scheduling and common planning time for teachers also allows for interdisciplinary work as well as consistent discussions regarding individual learning needs. English, Social Studies, Math, Science and World Language are standard curriculum areas on each team. The entire team follows a common schedule with students divided into different combinations for each subject class, called “T’s”.
This shared schedule provides team teachers and the counselor affiliated with the team a common meeting time to talk about academic, developmental, and social needs of their shared students, helping them to address individual needs effectively.
