What I am thinking about as we take this leap together...
You own your education. That means that the more effort you put into your life at RJ Grey, the more you will get in return. You must be willing to take risks and make mistakes. It is far better to learn something from an "epic fail" than play it safe all the time. I make mistakes daily--very publicly sometimes--but I am brave, I trust the process, and I am the first to admit that I do not have it all figured out.
Seventh grade is a huge transition. This means that the workload will be a bit heavier and the work itself a bit more complex than elementary school. But if you have grit, passion, and a willingness to take risks, you will have a most excellent year.
Learning can, and should be, amazing. This does not mean that every activity will be “tons of fun!”. It does mean that whenever possible we will integrate “cool” activities into English class.
Students must show up for class well-prepared to learn. Arrive to class with all of your materials, a great attitude, and thoughtfully completed homework. Ask questions and make meaningful contributions in class--this does not look the same for everyone. Follow this recipe, and you will be all set!
