iPads have built-in assistive technologies that can be powerful learning tools for students with attention deficits or visual, auditory, or learning disabilities. With iPads or other iOS devices, students can access such features as Siri, Speak Selection, Dictation, VoiceOver, Zoom, Camera & Video recording, Safari Reader, Closed Captions, Assistive Touch, and more. In addition to these, there are many iPad Apps designed for all students that lend themselves well to differentiated learning, and can be enhanced for students with disabilities by accessing the iOS accessibility features. Assistive Technology iPad Apps

ModMath Free app to support students with dysgraphia. Use touchscreen and keypad to set up and solve math problems, including addition, subtraction, multiplication division, and complex algebraic equations. Includes virtual graph paper. ModMathPro ($4.99) allows student to take pictures & write a notes; also included additional symbols for higher level math.

SnapType Free app to support students who struggle with handwriting and/or present with dysgraphia by allowing them to complete worksheets on an iPad. Can add text using keyboard or use finger to draw. Completed worksheets can be sent to teacher via email or uploaded to Google Drive. SnapType Pro ($4.99) also includes unlimited worksheet storage and ability to draw lines on worksheets.

Co:Writer Sophisticated app for word recognition and grammar-smart word predictions. Suggestions can be read with a swipe; selecting places the intended word in the document. Also includes built-in test to speech. ($34.99)

Notability Note-taking app for writing and organizing information. Includes tools for typing, writing, annotating, recording audio, and embedding images. $9.99 ($4.49 through VPP)
