ART 1
Class overview
The last 6 months have been challenging for everyone. One thing that has helped me, is finding a creative outlet. A way to let off some steam and to improve my mood. This could be creating some kind of art, drawing, playing an instrument, listening to music, cooking, or simply being out in nature.
This year, Art 1 is going to be a little different. We are still going to work on building art skills and finding our voice as artists. This is a time to support and learn from each other and a time to try new things and to open our minds.
I hope that students can draw on their previous art knowledge, while exploring materials in new and unique ways. Not everyone considers themselves an “artist”, but everyone has the ability to grow the skills they have and learn more about art along the way. My hope is that students of all skill levels will expand their knowledge and grow and discover themselves as artists over the course of the year.
About me
Mrs. Haskin has taught art in a variety of settings throughout her career. She has taught children from age 2 through high school. She has taught in both public and private schools as well as overnight camp.
This is Mrs. Haskin's 11th year at RJ Grey. Middle school is one of her favorite ages because students often discover their true artistic voice during these years.
