Some draw sketches to start an artwork, even if the artwork will be a sculpture!
Some artists use drawing to get to know their subject matter, drawing from various angles or at different times of day.
Some artists draw realistically while others are more abstract.
This is your chance to THINK like an artist and experiment with new drawing styles.
Look for shapes and spaces around and in between parts of your object.
Slowly define those spaces and fill them in neatly until your object begins to appear in the negative spaces.
Attempt to shade how light falls on your object.
Look for the bright spots and the darker shaded spots.
Make sure to show gradual changes in value where necessary.
