All High School Band students have the opportunity to participate in Solo & Ensemble Competition in late February/early March. This activity requires a strong commitment to practice, lesson attendance, and rehearsal attendance.
Music and type of event (solo, duet, chamber ensemble, etc.) is chosen in collaboration with Mr. Van Camp, following the guidelines laid out by the Wisconsin State Music Association (WSMA). There are several different levels of music difficulty and Mr. Van Camp will help each student find, and prepare something that is appropriate for the student’s skill level.
All musical performances will be judged at the Solo & Ensemble Competition and will receive a score on a scale of 1-5. Based on this score, some students may be eligible to perform at the state level in early May.
