Concerts are the culmination of weeks of preparation, musical development, and ensemble building as well and are the majority of the students' overall grade. As such, students are expected and required to be at all scheduled concert performances per their grade. See the upcoming events page for this year’s concert dates. If some highly unusual circumstance prevents a student from performing with the group, Mr. Van Camp must be contacted in advance. If an illness/emergency arises the day of the concert, please leave a voicemail or email before the performance.
While there is nothing that can truly replace a concert experience, absent students will be given the opportunity to complete a performance-based make-up assignment.
For grades 6-12, students are expected to dress in all black clothing with an optional pop of green (i.e. a green tie, green hair bow, etc.) for all concerts. Some examples of these items are:
Black dresses/skirts
Black dress pants
Black button down shirts
Black dress shoes
Black ballet flats
At the 5th grade concert in spring, students can choose to follow the concert black attire guidelines above or choose to wear clothing fitting with the spring time. However, dress should be formal in keeping with the formality of this event. If you have any questions or concerns about following the concert attire dress code guidelines, please get in touch with Mr. Van Camp.
