Resource is a time for a student to get extra help with homework, projects, test preparation, and other work from his or her core academic classes (English, Social Studies, Science, Math, and Reading).
One will also receive assistance with organization, study skills, and time-management – skills that will help to ensure a successful year.
How to Take Good Notes
Planning & Organization
Studying for Exams
1. Come prepared with your assignment book.
2. Arrive on time.
3. Bring work to do. “I don’t have anything to do” is not a valid excuse. AJHS students always have something to work on. If a student is caught up on all assignments, begin work on long-term projects or study for a future test.
4. If your grades are all strong and you truly are caught up on all work in all classes, one may read a book silently or go on Study Island / IXL. However, this is likely to be a rare event and not how Resource time is to be routinely used.
5. Students use technology to support academic goals. Acceptable activities on a computer include: researching, typing a paper, or seeking extra help on a pre-approved website.
Within Resource Room, assessments and/or other assignments left by teachers are a priority. Students are expected to complete those assignments before completing work that they brought with them to class.
