11th & 12th Grade English

Learning & Emotional Support

Welcome!

Class Overview

Welcome to the study of English! During this course we will read a wide variety of genres, from novels to poetry, short fiction to essays and other non-fiction. In addition, students will work on developing and improving their skills in all areas of English Language Arts, including their reading comprehension skills, their writing skills, and their critical thinking skills.

Throughout our course of studying we will be working on a variety of goals and course objectives, such as:

  • Develop students' competence as readers, writers, speakers and listeners

  • To read, analyze and respond to a variety of literature, both classic and contemporary

  • To hone and develop students' higher level reading and writing skills and to heighten their overall communication skills

  • To help each student work towards meeting their individualized goals as found in their IEP

About Me:

I've been teaching Special Education at ASHS for 14 years, and have been teaching for almost 20 years now. I have a background in Behavior Analysis from St. Joe's University and a Masters in Special Education from Arcadia.

At Abington, I take on a variety of roles in order to help make it a great place to learn and work. I operate the Student of the Month program, lead the faculty Ghost Team (a team of staff members who plan school-climate based activities), and I'm a member of a variety of committees.
