Chrome Extensions That Will Help You

  • Snap&Read Universal: This is another excellent Don Johnston tool for use with Google Chrome and iPads. It provides text-to-speech features, reading both accessible and inaccessible text, levels or reduces vocabulary for better understanding, translation option, and collects data for teachers.   • Read&Write for Google Chrome: Use the reading and writing support tools with Google Docs, Slides, PDFs, and ePubs. From text-to-speech, word prediction, dictation, dictionaries, and more, this is a great universal support tool by TextHelp.   • SpeakIt: A simple text-to-speech extension to have the selected text read out loud. The student highlights the text, right-clicks, and picks “Speak” – it’s that easy.

  • Scrible: Students can use this extension to read webpages, research, annotate, cite, bookmark, and manage online articles.

  • Learning Ally: If your district has a Learning Ally account, this extension makes it easier for students to access the library of audiobooks.

  • Reader Mode: An extension that delivers a distraction-free webpage reader and research tools for students with dyslexia. It removes webpage clutter, including ads, has bookmarking, annotating, highlighting, text-to-speech and more.
