LATIN: MORE THAN A LANGUAGE

Latin at Abington is taught with methods that make it accessible and beneficial to students of all levels.

The Roman Empire was expansive in both territory and influence, today connecting with the language and cultural heritage of nearly a billion people in over 60 countries on 4 continents. Studying the multi-ethnic, multi-racial nature of its society allows students to relate many aspects of Roman society to their modern experiences, analyzing similarities and differences, and issues of social justice. Some students may see themselves in a larger community based on common traditions or in a context of histories shared with other world nations.
