Girls STEM Camp

Every year, a group of female teachers and students from ATEMS  go to host educational stations for the Girls STEM Camp, a day-long event to help inspire middle school girls to explore IT and engineering fields.

Throughout the day, the ATEMS students set up coding stations and robot driving stations to further familiarize the younger girls with how robots operate. The middle school students were able to see how the coding of a robot works and then directly view how it affects the moving parts of a mechanism. Students also got hands-on experience maneuvering VEX Robots and our beloved letter bots: A bot, T bot, E bot, M bot, and S bot. We, the ATEMS Robotics team, wish to see more bright, creative girls in STEM, and so we hope that our stations and the day camp can encourage further interest in this field.

Robotics at Lib-con

Lib-con presented the opportunity for the members of ATEMS Robotics to connect with the community and show off their robotics skills. They brought the letterbots and moved them around and let people watch or even control the robots themselves. The people loved it and so did the Robotics members and it taught people in the community about robotics and what we do.

Trunk-or-Treat

Trunk or treat was an opportunity for ATEMS Robotics to have the community interact with robotics students and learn more, all while having a good time.

McMurry Homecoming Festival

ATEMS Robotics got the great opportunity to participate in McMurry's 2023 Homecoming.  Robotics students brought the letter bots out and showed the McMurry students, Alumni, and Alumni's kids what we do at ATEMS as they drove the letter bots around the McMurry Campus.

ATEMS Robotics Mall Expo

The ATEMS Robotics mall expo took place at the Abilene Mall on May 15, 2021. Students presented both their competition robots and the letter bots to give the community an idea of what they do in robotics.

World of Work

A group of ATEMS students in Engineering, IT, and Robotics went to the Abilene Civic Center for the World of Work Convention (WoW). ATEMS students went to WoW to inform students of what we do and some of the activities that we participate in. We talked about VEX Robotics, Engineering, and IT programs and what students do in those classes. Additionally, ATEMS Robotics explained to interested students how to start VEX teams at their school. Visitors drove VEX robots and the team received positive feedback from everyone.

Abilene Art Walk

On September 12, 2019, our robotics team showed off the robotics program. Students talked to the public about ATEMS, the engineering and IT pathways, and the robotics program. The students allowed the public to drive the robots and gave out brochures and pamphlets.

Academy Nights

On January 16, 23, and 30, 2018,  ATEMS participated in Academy Night. At Academy Night, students and teachers talked about ATEMS to incoming freshmen. The robotics team showcased our program, competition robots, and committees. Current students spoke one-on-one with prospective students about the requirements to join both Robotics and ATEMS High School.

ACU Makerfest

Our team demonstrated our many robots and other creations at Abilene Christian University’s Makerfest.  ATEMS Robotics used this venue to recruit new members and inspire future engineers.

Robotics Open House

The ATEMS Robotics team hosted an open house. The team demonstrated the competition robots, as well as the marketing booth, Engineering Notebook, and marketing presentation. Students talked to parents about what students do in each BEST Robotics Department. The Deputy Superintendent and the Executive Director of Secondary Education came to learn more about the robotics program.
