Adventure therapy motivates individuals to use emotional and physical strength to face difficult outdoor activities. Physical and psychological challenges can have clinical significance when done in a proper setting and supervision. When done properly it can help individuals gain self awareness, confidence, and emotional healing. Adventure therapy can be boating, rafting, camping, hiking and much more. The outdoors help us get grounded and provide a better understanding of ourselves through ability exploration.
Here in Salt Lake we are in a perfect spot to experience the outdoors, simply because the mountains are in our backyard. Utah is a great place for outdoor experiences, from Southern Utah's red and volcanic rock to here in Salt Lake with the Rocky and Oquirrh mountains on each side of the valley. In the summertime the mountains warm and flourish with greenery, lakes and wildlife. In the winter months several feet of snow paint the mountains white for winter activities such as snowshoeing, skiiing and snowmobiling.
