SUPPORT STUDENTS K-12
The Black Student Alliance (BSA) works with the Black Student Unions and Young Black Scholar student organizations at the three high school campuses to foster a commitment to intellectual, cultural, social and ethnic diversity. Their focus is to build awareness, education, and a new level of consciousness about being an Black/African American in today's society. BSA supports students to teach others about diversity and show that through engaging in activities focused around acceptance and tolerance, we ALL will gain a better understanding of others while learning about ourselves.
PBSA provides experiential experiences for Black/African American students, i.e. college expo/fairs, mentoring programs, historical/cultural events, etc.
SUPPORTING PARENT ACADEMIC KNOWLEDGE
BSA conducts four meetings each year to teach parents about academic planning, GATE process, grade-level matriculation, social-emotional learning, new academic initiatives, dual enrollment, and more. Parents are surveyed to better inform the topics the BSA focuses on for the meetings.
