PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW BEFORE BEGINNING APPLICATION
Thank you for looking into how to enroll your student(s) in the ABC Unified School District (ABCUSD). They have a bright future ahead as they attend our award-winning schools. The instructions below are for families enrolling students who live outside of the ABCUSD boundaries. Enrollment for students living outside of ABCUSD is done through an inter-district permit process. This is a two-part process requiring you to obtain an inter-district permit from your home school district and then apply to attend an ABCUSD school. The preferred application window begins on March 13, 2025, and ends on April 17, 2025 via the Incoming Inter-District Permit Application Online. Those applying after this application window will need to check this website for more information on instructions on how to apply for an Incoming Inter-District Permit Application beginning April 28, 2025.
Application Process
Obtain an approved inter-district permit, releasing the student from their home school district, and gather the following required documents:
Student’s current grades (for students enrolling in grades 1-12)
Student’s attendance records (for students enrolling in grades 1-12)

What You Should Know
The Preferred Application Window runs from March 13, 2025 through April 17, 2025 for students enrolling from outside of ABCUSD
All enrollment applications will be approved on a case-by-case basis and are subject to availability at the school requested on the enrollment application
ABCUSD’s decision to accept a student’s enrollment application and inter-district permit is based on, but not limited to, the student’s grades, attendance, and/or behavior
ABCUSD cannot accept enrollment applications without an approved release permit from the student’s school district of residence
All required documentation listed above must be submitted with the enrollment application
Students attending ABCUSD schools on an inter-district permit must maintain satisfactory academic achievement and behavior
Student transportation to and from school is the responsibility of the student’s family
Once a student is placed at a school, they may not change schools
Inter-district permits may be denied due to overcrowding with district schools, programs, or limited district resources
Timeline
All applications submitted within the Preferred Application Window, March 13, 2025 through April 17, 2025, will receive notification of acceptance as they are reviewed by the ABCUSD Child Welfare and Attendance Department
Families will be notified of any denied permits or acceptance into ABCUSD
Once a permit has been approved, it must be accepted by the family within three (3) school days. If the application is not accepted, the application will be voided/abandoned
Once a permit has been approved and accepted for a new student to ABCUSD, the family must begin the Aeries Online Enrollment. If the student is currently enrolled with ABCUSD and is transitioning to another grade span or another school within ABCUSD, the family DOES NOT need to submit the Aeries Online Enrollment. The enrollment process for any continuing students will be handled internally by the school site.
A student must be enrolled in their home district or private/charter school of choice until notification of the acceptance by the ABC Unified School District. Families will then begin the pre-registration process via the Aeries online enrollment system once you have received an acceptance in ABC Unified School District.
The following information will be required at the time of submission to complete the inter-district application.
