Welcome to the ABC
As you would expect from a values based school, the ABC is an equal opportunities employer. If you make an application, it will be acknowledged, and you will be contacted during the process even if your application proves unsuccessful. We hope you will at least get to know a little about our school, our values, and why we think our community is special.
We seek committed open minded, professional teachers who best fit the job description, with relevant prior experience and are committed to helping educate young people in El Salvador. Through our recruitment procedures we will check your suitability to work with young people, we will follow through and check previous schools and references, we will check your background in line with our Safeguarding Policies and the best recruitment practices of a CIS (Council of International Schools) school. Further information on these procedures and checks is available on the Safe Recruitment tab. Any false information or deceitful actions will immediately lead to disqualification of the candidate and the offer of a position will be withdrawn. The ABC is totally committed to being a fair and safe recruitment employer. On appointment staff will be observed and supervised to ensure they meet our high expectations.
The ABC recruits expatriate and local staff usually to start work in August, the start of the school year. Expatriate staff must be recruited to nominated "expatriate" positions agreed with the Ministry of Labour. All positions of responsibility are open to expatriate, and local staff and whenever a position of responsibility is advertised, existing staff are always welcome to apply.
All applications for positions are handled through the Human Resources Team who help ensure openness and fairness in the recruitment process. The ABC Recruitment Policy is further elaborated in the other links on the Recruitment section of this website.

We consider the ABC to be the premier British international school in the region, situated in a fascinating rapidly developing country which retains its own culture, has beautiful sights and is an excellent base for exploring the continent. We have a proud tradition of academic success in a friendly, supportive, purposeful environment.
The ABC has approximately 1,400 students with 750 in the primary and 650 in the secondary school. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage leading into Key Stage 1 and the International Primary Curriculum as a vehicle to promote learning in KS2. Secondary students follow the IB's Middle Years Programme (MYP) and then the IB Diploma before going on to attend some of the best universities in the UK, the US and elsewhere around the world.
El Salvador is a fascinating country with many interesting places to visit. Lonely Planet recently rated it as a top destination. You can read the article here.
Our staff is a combination of largely UK based expat teaching and local teaching and non-teaching staff. The school is international in curriculum and outlook. We are members of the Latin American Heads Conference (LAHC), an IB World School and are CIS accredited. We have been awarded the Values based Education quality Mark following a visit and an audit by Dr. Neil Hawkes (http://www.valuesbasededucation.com/).
