Skills Development Scotland Careers Support

Oldmachar works in partnership with Skills Development Scotland.

We all want our young people to be effective lifelong career planners who can make informed and confident decisions about their future.

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Career Coaches support pupils, parents and teachers with a comprehensive range of career information advice and guidance (CIAG) services.

Professionally qualified careers staff provide face-to-face guidance in school. All young people are encouraged to take up their entitlement to a 1:1 Careers Appointment as outlined in the Career Education Standard and young people can have multiple appointments if they need. SDS also have digital channels including My World of Work and Apprenticeships.scot. 

There is a dedicated area for parents and carers on My World of Work that offers information to help those career conversations with your young person, understand skills in demand from employers, and suggest ways to explore the different routes and pathways that young people can take.
