Our Lochside Academy Learning Structure is anchored in 5 key pillars for high quality learning, teaching and assessment: retrieval practice, quality of instruction, checking for understanding, effective plenary and home learning.
It is a coherent, research-anchored learning structure that strengthens learning, teaching and assessment across our school. It brings together what the evidence consistently shows has the greatest impact on pupils’ progress: strengthening memory, providing high-clarity instruction, checking for understanding in real time, supporting metacognition, and extending learning through purposeful home practice.
You can find out more about each of these 5 pillars in the menu for 'How We Teach' in this website.
Our 'ready for learning' expectations ensure that quality learning, teaching and assessment can take place.
