Course: NPA Customer Service – Level 6
Recommended entry: N5 Practical Cookery or L5 Barista Skills or by prior agreement with class teacher
Progression: HNC Business, HNC Marketing, HNC Hospitality Management, Employment in Customer Service industry, Employment in Hospitality industry.
Assessment: Internally assessed. Open book short research project, observation. There is no externally marked exam
Course Content:
This course will give learners the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop the practical skills required for working in the hospitality/customer service industry. Core skills will include communication, working with others and problem solving. Candidates will develop a knowledge of social media, research skills and product knowledge. Practical skills will focus on Barista Skills, Food preparation skills and Bakery skills. Practical skills will be a minimum of 50% of the allocated teaching time.
The context for learning will be the school’s ‘Macchiato Hut’ which will be used to give a real- life situation of providing customer service and running a hospitality business.
Candidates will be required to plan, organise and run an event. This could be a coffee morning, afternoon tea, soup and sweet, parents’ evening, sports day or any other event.
Please note by opting for this course pupils will be required to attend some events outwith school time.
