Braehead Primary is a new school formed by the amalgamation of Balgownie and Upper Westfield. After initially amalgamating in 2007 at the Balgownie site, we moved to a brand new school building provided by Aberdeen City Council’s 3R’s project on the old Upper Westfield site in April 2010. Our facilities are second to none and your child will be educated in a building fit for purpose for the 21st Century. We actively embrace Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence and aim to educate the whole child and provide a myriad of social and educational experiences for our pupils.
As a Silver Rights Respecting School, we are committed to putting children’s rights at the heart of our school community. This means pupils learn about their rights and responsibilities, feel listened to, and are encouraged to respect the rights of others. Our policies, practices, and relationships are guided by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, helping to create a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where every child can thrive.
