The Braehead Way consists of 3 simple school rules to support a calm and purposeful environment, ensuring the appropriate climate to support children to reach their full potential.
These are:
Safe
Ready
Respectful
Teachers will plan specific lessons around the 3 school rules, discussing what each rule would mean in different parts of the school. Posters are displayed throughout the school sharing "The Braehead Way".
Children at Braehead are supported to recognise superpowers that they can use to help create positive relationships and a positive ethos at the school.
Kindness is Cool
Sensible Superheroes
Marvellous Manners
Staff will regularly provide positive praise to children who demonstrate their superpowers in and around the school. One form of this is the Golden Ticket.
When issues in behaviour do arise, staff follow restorative approaches to support children to self-regulate their emotions. At Braehead, this takes the form of 'Back on Track'.
Remind: Reminder about "The Braehead Way" 3 rules.
Reflect: Supporting children to reflect on their current behaviour and remind them of previous times they were following "The Braehead Way".
Review: Providing a final opportunity for the child to make a positive change.
Reset: If necessary, providing reset time and space for the child.
Repair: Restorative conversation between staff member and pupil to repair positive relationships.
'Just a Note to Say' is used by class teachers to share a special message about a child with home, highlighting the great work they are doing in school.
This can be related to 'The Braehead Way', 'Our Superheroes' or the school values.
Golden tickets are issues by class teachers during our Live Virtual Assembly each week, highlighting 2 children in each class that have been following 'The Braehead Way', 'Our Superheroes' or the school values.
Children who receive the golden ticket get to the part of the 'Golden Table' during lunchtime.
