Mission
The interdependent purposes of this chapter are to:
1. Work to ensure that the concerns of Lewis & Clark (hereafter, LC) faculty and
instructional staff are represented in the deliberations of existing committees,
providing supplementary forums when necessary;
2. Strengthen shared faculty governance and ensure that LC faculty and
instructional staff have a meaningful say in decisions;
3. Defend academic freedom at LC and throughout academe;
4. Protect and advance the professional status and interests of all faculty; including
compensation, equity, justice, accessibility and fundamental worker rights;
5. Promote the interests of higher education and research, and in general increase the
usefulness and advance the standards, ideals, and welfare of the profession;
6. Support the policies and goals of the Association as set forth in Article 1 of the AAUP
constitution, and in all matters act in harmony with the principles and
procedures of the national Association and its constitution;
7. Develop necessary and proper chapter programs for
the accomplishment of the aforementioned purposes.
