Geography

In December, students learned about the 11 countries in Southeast Asia. They created slide shows for the different countries that had places to visit and travel tips for each of the countries. Their projects are posted in Mr. Wuebben's Google Classroom. We also spent time learning about Hmong history and culture and had a Hmong Festival where Hmong adults and students from Einstein, West and East taught about food, clothing, crafts, games, language, beliefs and dance. In January we are reading 6 different novels with connections to Southeast Asia. Each student has been reading a book they selected and then sharing it with other students who selected different novels.

At the start of the second semester, students will be investigating different topics about China and then developing a 10 minute lesson that they will teach to their classmates. This unit will end in February just in time to celebrate the Chinese New Year. After that we will be taking a virtual trip though the country of Japan. In March we will looking at the continent of Africa which will leave us time after spring break to finish the year with Europe and Australia.

Congratulations to David, Jack, Alex and Luke for being their class winners and Brendan, Owen, Rebekah, and Nathan for being runner-ups in the National Geographic Geography Bee. They will compete in our school final for a chance to move on the the Wisconsin State Contest.
