We have Solar at STEAM! The data below shows our production!
Thank you for your generosity!
SASP started around a year ago, when students learned about CO2 emissions and alternative energy. As the students progressed through the course, a few had the ambitious goal (and still ambitious) to install solar modules on A2 STEAM. They grouped together one day and decided it was final. They were going to try.
The next day, they talked with their teacher about it. They got the O.K. signal.
So the decided to start off with some research. They looked up their school on Google Project Sunroof, and got some great results. Their school could save $40,000 a year on solar. Just imagine the summer. That’s a lot of electricity.
Then, they put their research together and created a slide about benefits for the school in solar. They presented it many times to their class and others. After, they set up plans for the panels and wrote setups for the electrical. Meanwhile, the teachers asked a company for a good setup on their school.
Finally, the kids and adults joined together. They showed each other their final setups. They looked the same! Lesson learned: kids are smarter than you think. The kids also needed a way to show what they were doing. So they wrote this.
