Skyline Blues was founded in 2008 by Lyn CieChanski. The group first competed in the 2010 ICHSA season, and has since become one of the top competing groups in the United States, finishing the 2019 season ranked 2nd in the country.

Blues draws its members from Skyline's three choir classes:

Throughout the years, Skyline Blues has been invited to perform at countless events across the state of Michigan, at all levels of formality. Through 2017, Blues attended MSVMA Solo & Ensemble, and received consistently high marks at both the District and State competitions. In 2017, they were invited to the National A Cappella Convention (NACC) in Memphis, TN, where they performed their competition set, attended a cappella classes and workshops, and worked with industry professionals. While there, they watched a performance of "Boys in the Street" (opb. Greg Holden) which inspired their 2018 ICHSA competition set. They've been invited by Chelsea High School's Company C show choir to perform at the Chelsea Showcase. In 2017 and 2018, Skyline Blues and Bel Canto were invited to perform at the Michigan Music Conference (MMC) in Grand Rapids. In 2018, Blues performed for state legislators at the state capitol building in Lansing for MMEA Music Education Advocacy Day. Also in 2018, Blues performed at TEDxYouth@AnnArbor to make a case for LGBTQ+ rights and public school music education. In the fall of 2018, Blues attended and performed at the Kevin's Song Conference, a suicide awareness event in Plymouth. Skyline Blues advanced to finals in 2019, where they placed 2nd in the nation. In 2020, ICHSA competitions were cancelled due to the shutdown. However,  in 2021, Skyline Blues participated in the online ICHSA, where they advanced to the semifinals. After 2021, Skyline Blues has advanced to the ICHSA semifinals twice. Skyline Blues was honored with a performance at the MSVMA Choral Hour and also traveled to Memphis for the Briarcrest OneVoice invitational in 2024, performing their set onstage.
