High Desert Athletics

High Desert School is proud to offer 9 different sports in our Athletic program for grades 5-8th. With our coaching staff, we strive to engage and instill a passion of fun, competitive, positive sportsmanship in all our athletes. 

HDS participates in the Silver League for our Middle School Varsity level play. Students have the opportunity to play Volleyball, Cross Country, Flag Football, Soccer, Basketball, and Track & Field against other small middle schools within the Silver League. Each season is approximately 5 weeks long culminating in a championship tournament. Our Spirit Squad is year around, they join us for home games, pep rallies, and various school events. Dance force is for grades 5-8 beginning in November and ends in March at High Desert Classic Ballroom Competition. Our JV teams participate in the Santa Clarita Athletic Independent League (SCAIL) for our Junior Varsity levels for grades 5th/6th. In this League, our teams will be competing against schools in the Santa Clarita Valley in  Volleyball, Indoor Soccer, Basketball, and Flag football. 

All Students participating in our programs must maintain a GPA of 2.0 for the most recent and current reporting period to be eligible to participate in HDS Athletics. All students must complete the online athletics clearance prior to tryouts.  athleticclearance.com 

Tryouts for each sport will be held approximately 6-8 weeks prior to the first game. Teams will be selected by the coach(es) and the final roster will be checked for academic eligibility by the Principal and/or Athletic Director prior to posting. Practices will begin 4-6 weeks prior to the first game.
